Photo session in Jackson Heights, Queens, with the handsome Pauls family.
If you live in Middle Tennessee and haven’t yet traveled the back roads of Bedford County, do the right thing and pack some Lunchables™ for an afternoon drive. Your Instagram feed with thank you.
Here’s a rather great Normandy, TN (Bedford County) family who’s living the dream in a charming, restored 19th-century farm house.
The Nobility is (are?) playing a handful of shows this spring/summer. Won’t you come say hi?

Abby and Micah explained to me from the start their disdain for attention and apologized in advance for their severe stage fright in front of a camera lens. The way they set themselves up, I was sure I’d have to pry them out of the fetal position on their wedding day. To my great relief, though, they were at ease all day… probably just distracted, but I’ll go ahead and take some credit. The whole day was a genuine pleasure.
A rundown of the event: The sister of the bride is the excellent Nashville wedding planner Jennifer Hamilton who helped nail down the lovely Avondale Villa in Birmingham, AL as a ceremony and reception site. Cake was by Nashville’s Cupcake Collection and flowers by my all-time favorite florist/person Amanda Jerkins Design.
Worth noting – the shoot below was with an American expat who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mother had come over from the US for two months to help her out. In our initial email, she said she wanted the photos to “document this stage in our lives and the indescribable love and respect that we have for each other.”
It was pretty moving to meet and photograph them both.
Amanda and I were in the West Midlands of England for a couple of weeks this summer, thanks to a wedding that we were asked to photograph and flower (link to wedding gallery here). Miraculously, Amanda managed to birth a child and acquire all the proper documentation to take him overseas with us, all within 60 days of our departing flight. That was not easy.
If you’re interested, here is a gallery (link) of some of our travels, starting at our cottage on a sheep farm in Shropshire and ending with straight up tourism for a few days in London.
…and just in case you missed it the first time, here are some additional photos I’m rather proud of.
I was lucky enough to shoot a wedding last month inside a 500-and-something year-old church in the English countryside. I’d love for you to peruse this rather extensive gallery… I had trouble making an abridged version.
